Clock in the Living Room

چکیده
This article explores the practice of intergenerational listening and its implications for re-imagining social connection in COVID-19 crisis. Using an approached based conversation exchange facilitated through video-conferencing platforms, authors critically reflect on possibilities developing a new sense by to everyday sounds (Tuuri Peltola 2019) particular spaces. More specifically, principal aim is investigate impact daily spaces under locked-down as sources intimacy, accompaniment, creativity. These include ‘buzz’ cherished clock, creak screened porch, or records regularly listened family living room. Supported literature ‘listening at distance’ (Finer 2018) ‘sonic imagination’ (Street 2019), we ask: how can intergenerational, socially-distanced listeners engage with sound space improvise forms connectivity? Asking these questions, argue, inform research action into roles that improvisation play representation valuing ageing population (Lanphier emerging post-pandemic musical landscape.
